.rossiValentino Rossi stormed to victory in the Holland MotoGP celebrating his his 100th career win at the Assen circuit with the added bonus of putting daylight between him and the chasing pack in the MotoGP world championship standings.

The reigning world champion took the flag ahead of Fiat Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo, with Australia’s Casey Stoner, who led early on, finishing third.

Honda duo Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso crashed out from threatening positions on the same corner.

Their exits helped James Toseland to sixth, his best result of the season.

A vintage Rossi performance was celebrated with the unraveling a photographic backdrop of his previous 99 wins, followed by a pose for a classic photo with antique cameras.

Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo(raider from spanish) once again had to settle for second place, his third in a row. The Spaniard could blame a bad start from third on the grid and, although he was able to fight back up to the front, when it mattered he just could not dent Rossi’s command of the curcuit.

Ducati Marlboro rider Casey Stoner completed the podium with a solitary ride chasing Lorenzo. The raider Australian now trails Rossi and his Spanish rival in the overall standings after the trio had been level on points heading in to the Assen race
